GENTAMICIN SKIN OINTMENT

(0.1% GENTAMICIN)

COMPOSITIONOne gram of ointment (0.1%) contains 1.0mg of Gentamicin in the form of Gentamicin sulphate.

ACTIONGentamicin is an antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group with a broad spectrum of action against Gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Microorganisms susceptible to Gentamicin include P.aeruginosa, the group klebsiella, Enterobacter, Serratia, E. Coli, Strains of Proteus, etc. Maximal concentration of Gentamicin at the site of the infection is reached by topical application which could not be achieved by general treatment (oral or parenteral).

INDICATIONSLocal treatment of acute topical infections of the skin, furunculi, burns, ulcers, infected wounds, abscess, impetigo, intertrigo, secondary infected eczema, as well as the prevention of infections

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATIONApply in a thin layer to the affected area 2-3 times daily. Cover with a sterile dressing in order to avoid contamination of affected area.
